What I actually do

Two halves of the same problem

Systems & software
Choosing the tools, wiring them together, and building the pieces that don't exist yet. Then making sure it still runs when nobody's watching it.
The business side
Pricing, process, and where the money actually goes. The unglamorous half that decides whether the software half mattered at all.
A straight second opinion
Sometimes there's no project here. You need someone outside it to look once and tell you plainly. That's a call, not an engagement.

How it goes

Four steps, in this order

    We talk

    A call. No charge, usually twenty minutes. You describe the problem in your own words — not in software words.

  2. 02

    I look

    At what you're running, what it costs you every month, and what's actually breaking versus what's just annoying.

  3. 03

    You get a plan

    Written plainly. What I'd do first, what I'd do later, and what I'd leave alone. The last list is usually the longest.

  4. 04

    We build it

    Or you take the plan and run it yourself. Both are fine. The plan is yours either way.

Off the clock

I grew up on Mountain Avenue in Wyckoff, New Jersey, right next to Van Beekum Place. My grandfather cut that road through a forest so Edison Electric could run their poles up to Fredrick Court, on the mountainside. The street carries the family name because the family cut the street.

These days the address is Central Florida. The work didn't need me to stay put — small businesses are everywhere, and most of this job happens on the phone anyway.

Three daughters — which is its own full-time operations role, and the one I'd list first.

I run most mornings and lift the rest of them. I cook dinner most nights, because it's the one part of the day with a clear beginning and a clear end. A good conversation is worth an hour and a cigar.

And I like things that don't look like everything else — in art, in shirts, and in websites. You may have noticed.
